Emergya Wind Technologies (EWT) and Northern Energy Capital (NEC), today announce that they have formed a strategic collaboration to jointly pursue mutually beneficial business opportunities and to develop and implement renewable energy solutions to remote communities across Canada. Through their combined experience and expertise, and leveraging the success of their 4 MW project currently being installed in Whitehorse, Yukon, they will provide green energy solutions to additional remote locations across the vast remote Canadian market.
The strategic collaboration will see the two companies cooperate with each other on areas of mutual benefit, such as business development, market development, and overall marketing efforts. The two companies entered the collaboration after successfully starting construction on the 4 MW wind turbine project on Haeckel Hill in Yukon Canada. This project has numerous benefits, including generating enough green electricity to power 650 homes per year for the next 20 years, while saving the equivalent of over 40 million litres of diesel fuel over the project’s lifetime. Importantly, it generates most of its energy during the winter, when demand for electricity, currently being produced by fossil fuels, is highest.
“NEC and its management team have an impressive foundation for growth, and we are pleased to enter this collaboration, maximizing each other’s potential, especially at a time when we are expanding EWT across Canada. Building on the recognition of EWT as the best-in-class wind turbine manufacturer and supplier, NEC is the perfect strategic partner to accelerate our growth throughout the Canadian market,” said Carel Kok, EWT’s CEO.
The strategic collaboration is beneficial to both companies as they respond to the growing demand for green energy, especially through the offsetting of polluting and expensive diesel fuel that powers most of the remote and isolated communities in Canada. Both green energy focused companies are experienced providers of sustainable energy solutions and are quickly gaining market share in Canada.
“For NEC this is a very important step forward,” explained President and CEO Malek Tawashy. “This provides our company with a combined strength in the Canadian market that will help us deploy solutions more efficiently as our two companies collaborate. Ultimately, this allows us to serve our customers in these remote regions more effectively.”
The two companies will also explore future research and development opportunities to continue to lead the industry.
“We are very pleased to collaborate with the team at NEC….” explained EWT’s CEO Carel Kok. “The untenable cost of diesel and the glaringly evident negative effects of climate change are being felt hardest in the remote regions. EWT shares the same values as NEC and is dedicated to becoming one of the leading providers in North America, especially Canada” says Carel Kok. “Today more than ever it is evident that energy security and the energy transition are critical not only for environmental, but also for geo-political and humanitarian reasons. EWT & NEC have an ability to play a leading role in this change and be of great value in a rapidly evolving industry.”
Norther Energy Capital is a Yukon company, established in 2015, dedicated to empowering northern and remote communities in their transition from fossil fuel consumption to green energy asset ownership. NEC is the development partner of choice for off-grid and remote communities that seek to achieve energy independence through locally owned and locally produced renewable energy.
NEC designs, develops, and provides turn-key solutions for renewable energy projects engineered for Canada’s remote and northern communities. In every case, NEC starts with the aspirations, needs and vision of their community partner and then fulfills the role of development partner in realizing project objectives. NEC has core strengths in community engagement and visioning, identifying project capital requirements, securing funding, managing supply chains, and developing local capacity; that when put together, result in long term environmental and economic returns for the communities it serves.
