Becoming less reliant on the electricity network

EWT installed a DW54-900kW wind turbine at Yasar Makina, a machine manufacturer for the agricultural industry in Ipsala, Turkey. The factory comprises a rice processing plant where products are tested and continually improved. Alongside its main purpose of testing agricultural machinery, the plant processes 150 tons of rice per day, consuming a large amount of electricity.

Until recently, all electricity was sourced from the local grid network. EWT connected the wind turbine to the factory’s substation through a private cable. When the wind turbine is generating electricity, it overrides grid power use. On-site generated wind power provides much-needed security of supply, makes Yasar Makina less reliant on the grid network, and drives annual energy bills down.

Yasar Makina and EWT have agreed a long-term maintenance and service contract. Service and maintenance works are carried out by EWT’s local service team, whilst 24/7 monitoring takes place remotely from EWT’s state-of-the-art control room in The Netherlands.
